Community Renewal Rom Romeha is part of a consortium supporting employability for Glasgow’s Ethnic Minority communities.
Funded by Glasgow City Council, GEMS (Glasgow Ethnic Minority Service) is led by Bridges Programmes and includes 5 other community-based organisations; Amina (Muslim Women’s Resource Centre), Glasgow Clyde College, Cranhill Community Trust, Govanhill Community Development Trust and us.
Our employability team are based in our Govanhill office (311 Calder Street). They will provide Roma communities with support to find and sustain work in jobs where they can expect better pay and conditions. Many Roma people are exploited by employers or experience unacceptable discrimination.
We an help with CVs, training, ESOL, and confidence building. We have links to some employers and expertise setting people up in self-employment. We offer support in Slovakian and Romanian.
We are also delivering workshops for employers who are interested in learning about Roma history, culture and discrimination as part of their efforts to become anti-racist and inclusive to Roma workers.
If you are a member of the Roma Community who is looking for a job, then please do get in touch:
